I have been home in Tucson for the last couple of months trying to get the contractors to finish up with our house renovation. We are coming along. Both of the bathrooms are finally mostly finished, though the smaller details such as trim still need to be done.
During this time, we have seen another Spring in Tucson. I was amazed at the explosion of color; oranges, yellows, and bright greens. These colors were accompanied by all the new baby animals born throughout the property. The baby Gambel Quail were particularly sweet. I have been doing a little photo survey of the flowers blooming throughout the property...and there are so many. It makes me happy to walk around the property seeing all these natives in bloom. There are so many kinds of cactus in our "yard" and I am constantly amazed at the rush of color that greets me in the morning.
This has been a bonus month for the family too. I had two daughters graduate from undergraduate and graduate school, and several of the kids got to come home to visit. We are enjoying the Sonoran Desert for sure. This is what I imagined when we moved here to Arizona; sunshine, family, and an ease to life in retirement.
I got a chance to see the lunar eclipse this week and used my spotting scope and my Apple phone to photograph it. I always feel like I am viewing a "rockstar" when these events happen, because the skies are so dark on our property.
Lately, I am also appreciating early morning. as I have been putting in the miles on my bike on the Loop. Woo boy though, after 11 p.m., it is not a good time to be on a bike or walking any trails-better to be in the pool. Those high 90s are killer. I don't mind drinking whatever water I can find during these hot months.
Though I am learning a lot about Tucson, I feel like I have just scraped the surface. We will be travelling much of this summer, but I will get a chance to settle into Tucson come this Fall. I am sure there will be many adventures to talk blog about.
